At LCER we work alongside many other organisations to promote democratic renewal.
MVM is a cross-party group campaigning to replace First Past the Post with a proportional voting system where all votes count. MVM runs local activist groups and convenes the Alliance for PR.
Labour for a New Democracy (L4ND)
Formed in 2020 as a coalition of Labour-facing groups campaigning for proportional representation, L4ND is supported principally by the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust, and is hosted within LCER.
Politics for the Many works to promote electoral reform within the Trade Union movement. Formed after an LCER fringe meeting chaired by Billy Hayes at the 2017 TUC Congress, it is now supported by the ERS.
All-Party Parliamentary Group for Fair Elections
Launched in 2024, this group's cross-party membership of MPs and peers quickly became the largest of all APPGs. Its aims are to make votes count; to eliminate dark money in politics; and to counter disinformation in democratic debate.
Chartist's bimonthly magazine (established 1973, edited by Mike Davis) discusses and promotes Democratic Socialist ideas, and often contains content on electoral reform. A popular annual Supplement is distributed at Labour’s Annual Conferences.
Formed in 2007 from the merger of Charter 88 and the New Politics Network. UD campaigns in the UK for a written constitution, electoral reform, devolution, and government transparency and accountability.
A membership organisation for those wanting to be part of "a much more equal, democratic and sustainable future". Set up in 2003 as an internal Labour Party pressure group , it is now a cross-party organisation campaigning on many progressive issues.
The Constitution Society, founded in 2009, is an independent, non-party educational trust promoting public understanding and informed debate about democratic and constitutional change in the UK.
Probably the oldest and best-known left-leaning think tank and pressure group, the Fabian Society (founded in 1884), funds research, hosts discussions and events, and participates in the Labour Party at every level.
Electoral Reform Society (ERS)
An independent, non-partisan membership organisation campaigning for democratic renewal and voting reform. Set up in 1884 as the Proportional Representational Society, it supports the Single Transferable Vote.
UK in a Changing Europe (UKICE)
An independent research organisation based at King’s College London, headed by Professor Anand Menon. Its primary focus is the UK-EU relationship but its work also covers UK electoral and constitutional reform.
The Constitution Unit is a research unit based at University College London (UCL). It carries out independent research and holds events on constitutional change, parliamentary reform, elections, democracy and government.
An organisation linking together individuals and groups working on power, democracy and voice in the United Kingdom, supporting collaboration, increasing knowledge, skills and resources, and coordinating effective influencing strategies and action.
